Wenn die Zeit der Badegäste vorbei ist übernehmen die Robben die Düne vor Helgoland komplett. Sie ist eine wunderbare Kinderstube und so kann man in der Zeit von November bis Februar die Kleinen gut an Land beobachten. Nach der Geburt dürfen sie nämlich noch nicht sofort ins Wasser.
Kleine Robben, die ihre Mutter verloren haben, werden Heuler genannt und in Aufzuchtstationen groß gezogen.
In 2013/2014 hat es einen Geburtenrekord gegeben: 202 Tiere sind auf die Welt gekommen. Allerdings hat der Sturm „Xaver“ Opfer gefordert.

When the bathers are gone, the seals takes the dune. They love it as a nursery for the little seals. So one can watch little seals in the time of November to February because the little ones can’t join the water directly after the birth.
Little seals that lost their mother are called abandoned seal pup and they have to live in a breeding station until they are independent and able to hunt their food.
In 2013/2014 was a record of birth: 202 seals has been born. But several animals fell prey to the storm „Xaver“.
