Die Tage sind kurz, bald kommt die längste Nacht des Jahres.
Dunkelheit umgibt uns.
Kein Wunder, dass der Dezember der Monat der Lichter und Kerzen ist.
Days are short and soon we’ve midwinter. Darkness is all around.
No wonder that December is the month of lights and candles.
Aber nicht nur daheim, auch im Freien werden überall Lichter gezündet.
Ganz typisch für Deutschland sind die Weihnachtsmärkte.
Sie müssen einmalig sein:
An den Wochenenden bringen tausende von Bussen Menschen aus allen Ländern in die Metropolen der Weihnachtsmärkte.
Zum Glück sind nicht alle Märkte groß und bekannt, so dass ich ein bisschen Stimmung einfangen konnte.
Not only at home, anywhere lights are on to overcome darkness.
And very typical for Germany are the christmas markets. They must be unique:
Every weekend thausands of busses from all countries around bring people to the german metropolisis.
Good luck, there are several small christmas markets to capture atmosphere.
Die Kinder haben Spaß.
Children have fun.
Schöne Dinge kann man kaufen…
You can buy very beautiful things …
… und auch der Baum ist stolz: Anstelle von Laub trägt er Kristalle.
… and the tree is proud: Instead of leaves it’s wearing crystals.
Das Einzige, was jetzt noch fehlt ist, etwas Schnee.

I remember from my native homeland Denmark so many danes went to Germany to enjoy all the great german christmas markets and they do still – the jutes we went on a trip for specially Schleswig Holstein and further down – many Copenhagen citizens they went especially to Lubeck… 🙂
You’re right. All the market places are really atmospheric in the dark.
The little booths look great – the darkness is the best background for their lights.
The last years there is, additional to the „normal“ visitors, an organized tourism – bus trips, starting in the homeland, visiting all the metropolis (Lübeck, Hamburg, Aachen, Cologne, Nuremberg, Munich, ….) of Germany.
After such a stressful week, I fear they won’t come back 😉
