This is an interesting photo of old and new. What are the „iron tanks or columns“?

Hi Ulli, I had posted my comment but it disappeared. I hope this is not a repeat. I admired this old versus new building photo. What are the „iron tanks“ or actually stainless steel columns? Is this part of a rail system?

Gosh that sure is new and old isn’t it!
Thank you for your enthusiasm, Julie. It’s really a very nice place in Cologne, the Rheinauhafen. The old building is the harbour master’s office, build in 1889.
