Die Deutsche Bucht IV ♥♥♥ German Bight IV
Eure Resonanzen auf Teil III – „Die Deutsche Bucht ♥♥♥ German Bight“ beflügeln mich, noch einen weiteren Beitrag zu schreiben. Und das tue ich wirklich gern.
In meinem Freundeskreis gibt es viele, die die Inseln lieben. Aber jeder hat „seine Insel“, die ihm besonders ans Herz gewachsen ist. „Meine Insel“ ist Föhr.
Geschützt durch die vorgelagerten Inseln Sylt und Amrum prallt die See nur noch mit geminderter Kraft auf Föhr, so dass sich die Vegetation gut entwickeln kann. Deshalb wird Föhr auch „die grüne Insel“ genannt. Nach Sylt ist Föhr die zweitgrößte deutsche Nordseeinsel. Anders als Sylt hat sie aber keine Straßen- oder Bahnverbindung zum Land. –
An einem Dutzend Gemeinden sieht man schon, dass Föhr lebenswert ist. Und das liegt daran, dass Föhr einfach alles hat: Strand, Wälder, Wiesen, lebendige Orte und viele Störche.

Lot’s of my friends love the Frisian Islands but everyone has „his island“, the one that makes his heart beats faster. „My island“ is Föhr.
Sheltered by the islands Sylt and Amrum the Sea doesn’t attain all-out. That’s why vegetation on Föhr can develop and grow up and so Föhr is also called „the green island“. After Sylt Föhr is the second largest german North Sea island. Different to Sylt Föhr hasn’t any road or train connection to the mainland. –
A dozen municipals indicate Föhr is worth living. And that’s because Föhr has everything: Beach, forests, grassland, livable places and many storks.

Von Seeseite kommend, steuert man Wyk auf Föhr durch das Rütergat an.
Dabei kommt man an Amrum vorbei und kann den Kniepsand mit den Robben wunderbar beobachten.
Coming from Seaside you take course of Wyk going through Rütergat.
On this way you’ll pass the isle of Amrum where you can watch the Kniepsand and the seals.

Vom Hafen aus ist es ein Katzensprung in die City von Wyk.
From port to city of Wyk it’s only only a stone’s throw away.
Links der großen Promenade der Strand.
Left side the promenade there is the beach.
Rechts der Promenade die Shoppingmeile.
Right side the promenade the shops.
Kleine Gassen machen Wyk sehr gemütlich.
Small streets are very homely.
Mit großem Erfolg schaffen es die Föhrer, der Nordsee Land abzuringen.
Es ist ein langer und mühsamer Prozess.
Aber er lohnt sich: Fruchtbares Weideland ist das Ergebnis.
With great success the Föhrer work on reclamation of land.
It’s a long and hard process, but it’s worth it: fruitful grasslands are the results.
So fängt es an.
That’s the way it starts.
Langsam aber stetig wird aus dem Wattenmeer Grünland.
Noch schlängelt sich hier und da das Wasser durch, aber auch das wird sich ändern.
Slowly but surely the mudflat transmutes to greenland.
Here and there water is still curling but soon it will be complete greenland.
Schafe halten das Gras kurz und sorgen dafür, dass der Deich immer fest ist.
Instead of mowing mashines sheeps keep the grass short and they keep the dyke strong.
Und, wie wir schon vorher gesehen haben, auch hier das Schiff in der Kirche.
And, as seen before, the boat in the church.
In der Tierauffangstation auf Föhr wird vielen Vögeln geholfen. Deshalb sind viele Störche gleich auf Föhr geblieben.
The animal welfare saved lot’s of birds. So many storks stayed on Föhr.
Alle fühlen sich wohl auf Föhr 🙂

Die Deutsche Bucht III ♥♥♥ German Bight III
Dies ist nun der dritte Teil meiner Serie über die Deutsche Bucht.
Im zweiten Teil habe ich mit Sylt begonnen, die deutsche Inselwelt dort vorzustellen. Heute möchte ich euch Amrum näher bringen.
This is the third part of my report about German Bight.
With my second part I started with the isle of Sylt to present the charming world of islands in this region. Today I want to tell you something about Amrum.

Amrum ist deutlich kleiner als Sylt aber genauso interessant. Obwohl nah beieinander sind alle Inseln anders.
Amrum is significantly smaller than Sylt but just as interesting. Although the islands are close to each other they are very different.
Kommt man von Seeseite nach Amrum, erreicht man den Hafen Wittdün.
If you come from Seaside to Amrum you come to port Wittdün.

Bei Ebbe hat Amrum den größten Sandstrand Nordeuropas – den Kniepsand mit 10 qkm

Aber die Insel selbst wird nicht so sehr durch Strand und Dünen geprägt.
Sie ist waldig und hat gleich hinter den Dünen einen Süßwassersee mit üppiger Vegetation.
Viele Tiere finden hier ihren Lebensraum, weswegen das gesamte Gebiet Naturschutzgebiet ist.
Nor the beach either the dunes characterizes the island. Forests and green vegetation are typical.
Just behind the dunes there is a fresh-water lake and together with the vegetation this is an area for lot’s of animals. So the region is protected landscape.
