Schweden ist ein herrliches Segelrevier. Bei jedem Wetter kann man dort etwas unternehmen. Ist es ruppig und stürmisch, so bleibt man im geschützten Bereich der Schären am Festland, sind Wind und Welle moderat, so kann man die Inselwelt erkunden.
Der Sommer 2013 war ein guter um Gotland zu besuchen. Unser Ziel war die Hauptstadt: Visby. Eine wunderschöne ehemalige Hansestadt. Fast der ganze Ort steht unter Denkmalschutz, er ist eine Fundstelle historischer Bauten und Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Fantastisch ist die fast vollständig erhaltene 3,6 km lange mittelalterliche Stadtmauer mit der Ruine der Visborg.
Sweden is a nice sailing area. You always have the chance to sail. If there is stormy weather you stay under the protection of the archipelago of Sweden and if the waves and winds are moderate you can explore the world of islands.
So, the summer 2013 was a good one to visit Gotland. Our destination was the capital town: Visby. A wonderful town – once a free Hanseatic City. Nearly the whole town is declared a historic monument. Visby is a place to find lot’s of historical buildings and sights.
Fantastic to see is the nearly complete medieval townwall with a length of 3,6 km and the ruin of the Visborg.
Lange Sommer-Sonnennächte in Skandinavien ermöglichen Aktivitäten, wie wir sie von hier nicht kennen. Deshalb hat es uns im Juni 2008 nach Saltjøbaden im Süden Stockholms gezogen.
Am 13. Juni übernahmen wir das Boot „SOL“ – eine Bavaria Cruiser 42 ft. Acht Tage lang war sie unser Zuhause, genau zur richtigen Zeit, denn: Die Segelsaison beginnt wenige Tage vor der Mittsommernacht und ist im September schon fast zu Ende.
Von Saltjøbaden starteten wir erst einmal nach Stockholm, um uns das tolle Stadtpanorama von Seeseite anzuschauen.
Die Betonnung ist gut, zum Teil wird es sehr eng, aber nachdem wir Kap Blockshusudden passiert haben, ist Stockholm nicht mehr fern. Stockholm mit „Gamla Stan“ von Seeseite fasziniert uns und wir genießen den Anblick länger als gedacht.
Nachdem wir Stockholm verlassen haben, suchen wir uns einen netten Ankerplatz und übernachten. Am nächsten Tag geht’s weiter Richtung Vaxholm nach Dyvik. Dort finden wir in der Marina einer Werft einen ruhigen Platz.
Waren die ersten beide Schläge nur kurz, so entscheidet heute das Wetter, dass wir zu den Ålandinseln segeln: Rødhamn ist unser Ziel, das wir nach 58,7 nm erreichen.
Um 1740 h UTC ist es natürlich taghell, in Finnland ist es nun UTC + 3 Stunden.

Von Rødhamn geht’s weiter nach Degerø, knapp 11 nm, von Degerø nach Seglinge, gut 20 nm.
Dann müssen wir langsam Kurs Richtung Mariehamn nehmen und segeln gut 30 nm nach Kastelholm. Von Kastelholm nach Mariehamn sind es nur noch 17 nm.
Hier endet unser Segeltörn nach acht Tagen.
Ende gut – alles gut!
Wir geben die „SOL“ ab und fahren mit der Fähre zurück nach Stockholm, um dort die Stadt kennenzulernen und die Mittsommernacht zu feiern.
Sweden – Åland Islands: Archipelago off Swedish and Finnish coast
If you like unforgettable sailing-trips you should explore the archipelago off the Swedish and Finnish coast in the summertime: Unmissable sights and never-ending days mean you forget to sleep.
That’s why we started our trip in June 2008 in Saltjøbaden in the south of Stockholm – we wanted to enjoy the Midsummer night in Sweden.
We chartered “SOL” – a Bavaria Cruiser 42ft – which would be our home for the next 8 days in the port of Saltjøbaden and just in time as: The season starts several days before Midsummer night through to September.
Our first port of call was Stockholm itself. Navigating through the Swedish and Finnish waters is made easy by the buoyage, but occasionally passage ways get close. But after passing Kap Blockshusudden we soon reached Stockholm.
The view of the town and “Gamla Stan” as we sailed through was fascinating and we soon forgot all time, so after leaving Stockholm we looked for a safe anchorage and a good meal.
The very next day: Anchors aweigh! And plotted our course to Vaxholm. In Dyvik we found a good place to stay over night in a local shipyard.
Day 3: The weather is good and we decide to sail to the Åland Islands. After 58,7 nm we reached Rødhamn at 1740 h UTC and: the sun is shining!

Our next stage: Rødhamn to Degerø, just 11 nm, and from Degerø to Seglinge – 20 nm.
Now it was time to plan our arrival in Mariehamn, via Kastelholm – 30 nm and onto – Mariehamn: Just only 17 nm.
All’s well that ends well!
Day 8: We hand over the boat and return to Stockholm with a ferry to explore Stockholm on land and to celebrate Midsummer night.
